Most drivers not ready for winter
With weather forecasters predicting another bad winter, fewer than 5% of motorists are planning to buy winter tyres this year, according to a survey by Manheim Auctions.
The survey reveals that many who think they are prepared for bad weather are failing to carry essential items in their car. Only 33% of respondents would carry warm clothing, 25% would keep jump leads in the car and 21% would carry a shovel.
The survey also identified motorists’ Top 10 winter tips:
1. Top-up screen wash (89%)
2. Carry ice scraper (80%)
3. Top-up anti-freeze (78%)
4. Carry de-icer (77%)
5. Check water level (66%)
6. Carry warm clothing (33%)
7. Keep jump leads in the boot (25%)
8. Carry a shovel (21%)
9. Carry a warning triangle (19%)
10. Carry a reflective jacket (17%)
